Slack

World IA Day Pittsburgh (WIAD Pgh) is a growing community of information architecture practitioners and students in the Greater Pittsburgh region. The WIAD Pgh Slack community is a platform to facilitate any member having a voice in shaping our future events.

We understand how important it is to connect with our peers, share ideas, and collaborate! With this in mind, we have created channels for members to welcome new members, share fun memes, or to share announcements to the community. We have a channel where you can post a question or a project, whether you are looking for a simple experienced answer or a collaborator to work on an answer together.
Our Slack community extends networking and event planning beyond the annual event. Members suggest new channels and ideas for activities, elevating the commuinty experience for the next leg of our journey together.
Here’s how to make joining our community easy and enjoyable.
  1. Add a photo to your profile and introduce yourself on our #welcome channel. Feel free to share external links to your Instagram, Linkedin or website/portfolio here too. Get involved and comment on other member’s posts.
  2. Take some time to explore other channels and conversations that might be of interest to you.
  3. Make your arrival known to other members in the #welcome channel. And be sure to welcome those who arrive after you.
  4. The WIAD Pgh event organizer team will post official updates in #team-announcements.
  5. Members are invited to post their own updates to the community in #member-announcements.
  6. We created #suggest-a-channel for the community members, including you, to suggest new discussions for the community.
  7. If you need help, please reach out to the moderator volunteer @Anthony Closkey
